Murder in the Marais by Cara Black is the first book in the Aimée Leduc mystery series. Cara Black has set the Aimée Leduc mysteries in Paris France. Aimée Leduc is a young private investigator. She owns Leduc Detective that she inherited from her father. Why was her father killed after he was no longer with the Paris police. I’m not telling, read the book, one of those hard to put down mysteries. Leduc Investigations specializes in computer crime against businesses; however, Aimée is constantly getting involved in problems that have nothing to do with computer crime. Leduc Investigations always seems never to have enough money to pay the bills because she is to busy with all these problems that have nothing to do with computer crime which is their bread and butter.
The publishers even include a map at the beginning of the book to help the reader from getting lost as the mystery unfolds. However I have found that online maps helped me more than the the one that is in the book. I like books like the Aimée Leduc mysteries where the streets, geography and major buildings are real, not made up fiction.

Since Leduc Detective specializes in corporate security and computer forensics she does not see any problem with the job. However, when she arrives to deliver the document to the woman, she finds that the woman has been murdered and a swatiska has been carved into her forehead. Aimée in now in the middle of private detecting that has nothing to do with computers. So now she becomes immersed in the life of neo-nazis,nazis from WWII, Jews that were also living in Paris during WWII and other unrelated troublemakers. Since her father left the Paris police under a cloud and then started Leduc Detective Aimée knows many policemen, but none that are very helpful and some that give her grief. Her godfather is also a policeman, but Aimée never knows wether he will help her, obstruct her or ignore her. Her mother disappeared when she was eight and Aimée suspects that her mother might have joined a terrorist group.

The best that I can say about this Cara Black and her Aimée Leduc mystery series is that is hard book to put down until you are finished reading the whole book. So, don’t read it before going to bed or you will be up all night.
